Job Description
Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison for designated caseload. Duties include but are not limited to:
Complete all associated paperwork (monitoring student performance, data collection, writing IEPs/progress reports, etc.)
Maintain communication between teachers, specialists, families, and any outside providers
Implement direct/explicit instruction across content areas using multi-sensory teaching, differentiated strategies, and language-based techniques.
Promote and assist in the implementation of research-based strategies to ensure the transition and generalization of students’ academic and social skills throughout the school community.
Utilize appropriate classroom management strategies, including a comprehensive positive behavior intervention system, to ensure a successful and motivating instructional environment within the classroom and throughout the school.
Use a multi-disciplinary approach to gather various sources of information for progress monitoring in order to routinely implement data-based decision-making practices to guide instruction and lesson planning.
Provide supervision of program ESPs.
Coordinate student and staff schedules to ensure compliance with IEP requirements and the efficient use of resources.
Perform other duties as determined by building Principal, Elementary Coordinator of Special Education, and/or Director of Student Services.

The Miles River Middle School was constructed in 1998 and was designed to support the educational development of the early adolescent in grades 6-8. This school facility features six science labs, three computer labs, specialized classrooms for art, music, and life skills, and a contemporary library/media center. Each classroom is equipped with computers, internet access, and a TV/video center. Miles River Middle School is a comprehensive middle school that serves grades six through eight with a rigorous academic program focused on the areas of Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science, and Foreign Language. Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education - Master’s Degree preferred;
• Massachusetts Educators License - Severe Disabilities-will consider Moderate with experience;
• Experience with development and implementation of individual and whole class behavior support plans;
• Expertise with access and entry points to MA Standards and curriculum modification;
• Assistive Technology and AAC experience preferred;
• Strong ability to collaborate with all staff; - At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
